Job summary

Nuva-Smile, a busy family practice, seeks a part-time Orthodontic Assistant with an active X-ray license. You will assist the orthodontist with assessments, braces placement, and radiographs while maintaining records and ensuring infection control. Must be able to travel to multiple NJ locations and support patient flow across sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; either an accredited orthodontic assistant program or relevant clinical experience.
• Dental assistant license or relevant clinical experience.
• X-ray license required.
• Knowledge and experience with orthodontic procedures, terminology and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist in patient assessment and treatment planning.
• Prepare and assist with orthodontic procedures, such as fitting braces, adjusting wires, and placing elastics.
• Sterilize, set up and prepare orthodontic equipment and instrumentation.
• Maintain medical records and documentation; create patient file entries.
• Take diagnostic records and radiographs (x-rays).
• Provide patient instruction on oral hygiene and care.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
• Under supervision of the Orthodontist, deliver and assist with direct patient care.
• Document cases and assist with treatment planning as needed.

Location: Must be willing to travel to Old Bridge, Clifton, East Orange, Paterson, Totowa, Elizabeth to name a few

Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist in patient assessment and treatment planning
• Assist and prepare orthodontic procedures, such as fitting braces, adjusting wires, and placing elastics.
• Sterilize, set up and prepare orthodontic equipment and instrumentation
• Preparation and maintenance of medical records and documentation
• Create patient file entries
• Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Provide patient instruction and education on oral hygiene and care
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment
• Perform basic laboratory duties
• Schedule patient appointments
• Manage patient flow
• Under the supervision of the Orthodontist, deliver and assist with direct patient care
• Take diagnostic records
• Document and prepare cases
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements
