Job summary

Nuva Smile in New Jersey is seeking a part-time Orthodontic Assistant to support our busy family practice. This role requires an X-ray license and willingness to travel to Old Bridge, Clifton, East Orange, Paterson, Totowa, Elizabeth and surrounding towns to assist with a range of orthodontic procedures.

You will help with patient assessment, brace fittings, radiographs, charting and education under the Orthodontist's supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; either an accredited orthodontic assistant program diploma or relevant clinical experience.
• Dental assistant license or relevant clinical experience.
• X-ray license required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with orthodontic procedures, terminology and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist in patient assessment and treatment planning.
• Assist and prepare orthodontic procedures, such as fitting braces, adjusting wires, and placing elastics.
• Sterilize, set up and prepare orthodontic equipment and instrumentation.
• Preparation and maintenance of medical records and documentation.
• Create patient file entries and take diagnostic records.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
• Provide patient instruction and education on oral hygiene and care.
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Perform basic laboratory duties.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
• Under the supervision of the Orthodontist, deliver and assist with direct patient care.

Location: Must be willing to travel to Old Bridge, Clifton, East Orange, Paterson, Totowa, Elizabeth to name a few

Responsibilities

Requirements
