Job summary

Nuva Smile is seeking a part-time Orthodontic Assistant to join a busy family practice and support orthodontic care across multiple locations. The role involves assisting with braces, wires, elastics, radiographs, and patient education in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate should have an x-ray license, a relevant orthodontic program diploma or practical experience, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or equivalent.
• Diploma from accredited orthodontic assistant program or relevant clinical experience.
• Dental assistant license or relevant clinical experience.
• X-ray license required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with orthodontic procedures, terminology and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist in patient assessment and treatment planning.
• Assist and prepare orthodontic procedures, such as fitting braces, adjusting wires, and placing elastics.
• Sterilize, set up and prepare orthodontic equipment and instrumentation.
• Preparation and maintenance of medical records and documentation.
• Create patient file entries.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
• Provide patient instruction and education on oral hygiene and care.
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Perform basic laboratory duties.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Manage patient flow.
• Under the supervision of the Orthodontist, deliver and assist with direct patient care.
• Take diagnostic records.
• Document and prepare cases.
• Other duties as assigned

Location

Must be willing to travel to Old Bridge, Clifton, East Orange, Paterson, Totowa, Elizabeth to name a few

Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist in patient assessment and treatment planning

Requirements

• Salary commensurate with experience, up to $28 / hr
