Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Gramercy-Houston, TX is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant Floater to support multiple locations. You will work with ophthalmologists to perform tests, obtain medical history, and prepare patients for examinations in a fast-paced clinic environment.

The role requires 1–2 years of ophthalmology experience, BLS certification, and willingness to travel between HEA locations as needed. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience working with ophthalmologists.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Uncertified Ophthalmic Assistants must obtain JCAHPO certification within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Stock, prepare, and maintain clean exam rooms.
• Review patient charts for accuracy.
• Prepare patients for physician exams and perform tests.
• Assist with in-office procedures.
• Prepare consent forms and clean rooms after procedures.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Order diagnostic tests electronically and submit refills approved by physician.
• Prepare letters to patients and referring physicians.
• Assist with diagnostic testing and follow-ups.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
• Train other ophthalmic assistants.
• Comply with all State and Federal regulations and HEA policies on patient confidentiality.
