Northwestern Medicine seeks a Nurse Clinician to join our General Surgery team, based at Lake Forest and Grayslake campuses. This full-time, salaried position supports patient care across in-person and telephonic assessments, with a focus on nursing interventions and education.

Responsibilities include performing comprehensive nursing assessments, administering medications and phlebotomy, documenting in the medical record, and coordinating with physicians and other departments.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
• Current CPR certification (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-attending care for patients with comprehensive nursing assessments.
• Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medications, vital signs, specimen prep.
• Document assessments and interventions in the medical record; ensure confidentiality.
• Coordinate with physicians and other departments to ensure appropriate patient care.
• Triage and prioritize telephone calls using clinical assessment skills.
• Respond to urgent/emergent situations following department protocols.
• Educate patients and coordinate education with staff and community resources.
