Job summary

Optum’s WellMed Fort Worth site seeks a Float Medical Assistant to support multiple clinics. The MA will assist physicians and nursing staff, perform routine specimen collection, wound care, and patient setup while maintaining accuracy in medical records.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certification (or ability to obtain within 180 days), and a current BLS. Travel within the market and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers or within 30 days of hire.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to travel frequently within assigned market.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within Medical Assistant scope of practice including basic wound care and specimen collection.
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and delivers quality customer service.
• Supports infection control and safety procedures.
