Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Field Service Representative - Mechanical to support water treatment projects across the US. You will commission plants, liaise with design and construction, and train customer personnel on operation and maintenance of process equipment.

The role requires 5+ years in water treatment, strong customer focus, and the ability to work remotely with project teams. Expect extensive travel and a salary aligned to experience and location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma with 5+ years in water treatment.
• Strong focus on customer relationships and ability to work remotely with project teams.
• Knowledge of RO/ED, Ion Exchange and Thermal technologies.
• Willingness to travel 70–80% across North America.
• Valid passport and driver's license.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, piping drawings and civil notations.

Responsibilities

• Commission water treatment plants and verify equipment and control systems meet specifications.
• Liaise between design engineering and construction during plant erection.
• Provide technical instruction on installation, operation, calibration, maintenance at customer sites.
• Manage outside vendors and suppliers to meet project specs.
• Develop SOPs and log sheets to document operation and monitor equipment.
• Develop and execute commissioning schedules and performance plans.
• Provide classroom and hands-on training on operation/maintenance of process equipment.
• Participate in design reviews and safety reviews to ensure accessibility and operation.
• Perform PLC/HMI tasks including IO checkout, system networking, program upload/download, ladder logic.
• Conduct site inspections and operator training as part of after-market services.
• Maintain safety mindset per company standards and prepare technical reports for records.
• Apply water treatment chemistry calculations, budget analysis, and Time & Materials costs.
• Identify alignment issues and perform geometry/chemistry calculations.
• Define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions to improve operations.
