The position requires a California State Certified Electrician who can manage productivity, safety, documentation, and quality while actively installing, troubleshooting, and ensuring code-compliant work in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, and work alongside an electrical crew of approximately 46 electricians and apprentices on commercial and utility construction projects.
  • Put tools on and perform hands-on electrical installation work in the field, rather than only planning and supervising.
  • Plan and coordinate daily field activities to ensure efficient and productive operations.
  • Assign work to crew members and monitor productivity, workmanship, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Train apprentices and less-experienced electricians in proper installation methods, safe work practices, and code-compliant techniques.
  • Review construction drawings, blueprints, and electrical plans before and during installation to ensure accurate execution.
  • Coordinate materials, tools, and equipment needed for daily operations, including pick-up and transport from the designated office or meet-up location.
  • Supervise and participate in the installation of conduit, wire and cable, switchgear, electrical equipment, and related systems.
  • Perform and oversee underground electrical and utility work in accordance with project requirements and standards.
  • Troubleshoot field conflicts and installation issues proactively before they impact production or schedule.
  • Maintain compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and project specifications throughout all phases of installation.
  • Prepare and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and required safety documentation for the jobsite.
  • Complete accurate daily reports documenting progress, issues, and relevant project information.
  • Manage punch-list items and ensure timely completion of outstanding work to meet project closeout requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite by enforcing safety policies and best practices.
  • Travel as needed to job sites throughout California, with occasional travel to Nevada and Arizona as required.

  • Residence within approximately a 50-mile radius of the designated office or meet-up location to pick up materials, equipment, and coordinate transportation.
  • Ability to effectively train and develop apprentices and less-experienced electricians.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and code-compliant electrical installations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical plans, drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with underground electrical and utility construction work.
  • Hands-on experience supervising and installing conduit, wire and cable, switchgear, electrical equipment, and related systems.
  • Strong knowledge of jobsite safety requirements and electrical construction best practices.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and other safety documentation.
  • Capability to troubleshoot field conflicts and installation issues in a timely and effective manner.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in utility construction environments.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills in coordinating daily field activities and managing crew performance.
  • Experience completing daily reports and maintaining project documentation.
  • Ability to manage punch-list items and support project closeout activities.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly jobsite and ensure proper use of tools and materials.
