Job summary

Gallaher Signature Living is seeking a Traveling Interim Executive Director to provide interim leadership across California communities. The role covers vacancies, new builds, and leadership transitions with extensive travel between Northern and Southern California on a 10-days-on / 4-days-off schedule.

Active California RCFE Administrator certification is required, with 5+ years of senior leadership in senior living.

Qualifications

• Current and active California RCFE Administrator certification is required at engagement.
• Minimum of 5 years of Executive Director or senior leadership experience in senior living.
• Experience leading California RCFE communities and regulatory compliance knowledge.
• Ability to travel extensively across Northern and Southern California on a 10-days-on / 4-days-off schedule.

Responsibilities

• Serve as acting Executive Director and senior operational leader during vacancies and transitions.
• Assess operations, leadership needs, regulatory status, staffing, and financial performance.
• Provide visible, hands-on leadership while maintaining brand standards and resident focus.
• Ensure an exceptional resident and family experience and address concerns promptly.
• Lead department directors and community management teams; support leadership transitions.
• Manage budgeting, occupancy, revenue, expenses, labor, and KPIs; ensure regulatory readiness.
• Partner with Sales/Marketing to support occupancy goals and community positioning.
• Ensure compliance with California Title 22, RCFE licensing, and related regulations.
• Maintain regulatory documentation, training, and emergency preparedness plans.
• Oversee licensing visits, surveys, audits, and plans of correction.
• Collaborate with clinical leadership to promote safety, quality, and escalation of care.
• Provide leadership during emergencies and incidents; foster safety culture.
• Identify operational concerns and report to GSL executive leadership with action plans.
• Support transition to permanent ED and serve as Gallaher Signature Living ambassador.
• Perform other operational leadership tasks as needed.
