Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Traveling Mechanic (Heavy Equipment) to maintain and repair the fleet across multiple locations. This full-time role requires extensive travel, safety focus, and on-the-job training at the BNSF Training Center. M-F, 10-hour shifts, potential nights and weekends based on business needs.

New hires start at a monthly pay rate of $9,415.56 with annual earnings ranging from $104,714 to $136,000. Union pay scales may apply and relocation is not provided at this time.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum verifiable mechanical work experience or training.
• One-year minimum verifiable training/experience with gasoline and diesel engines on large equipment.
• Three months minimum of training/experience with electrical and/or gas welding.
• One-year minimum verifiable training/experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the fleet of equipment operated by BNSF.
• Disassemble, repair, modify, manufacture, overhaul, and troubleshoot maintenance equipment and systems.
• Operate tools and welding equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment under extreme weather and noise conditions.
• Adhere to safety regulations and wear required safety equipment.
