Job summary

BNSF Railway in Denver is hiring a Traveling Mechanic in the Engineering Department. You will maintain and repair heavy equipment across multiple sites, ensuring uptime and safety.

This full-time role requires extensive travel, a CDL, and the ability to work 10-hour shifts on weekdays with overtime. Training is provided at the BNSF Training Center and travel is required across the designated region.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum verifiable mechanical work experience or training.
• One-year minimum verifiable training/experience with gasoline and diesel engines on large equipment.
• Three months minimum experience with electrical and/or gas welding.
• One-year minimum experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to read, write and communicate English.
• Valid Class B CDL; Class A may be required later.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the fleet of equipment operated by BNSF.
• Disassemble, repair, modify, and overhaul roadway maintenance equipment and related systems.
• Operate tools and welding equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment under varying weather conditions.
