Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Orlando, FL is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to install, program, start-up and commission state-of-the-art fire alarm equipment across customer sites in the SE region. The role requires heavy travel up to 75% and strong electro-mechanical aptitude to work around electrical gear and accessories.

You will collaborate with customers, support system testing and documentation, and ensure compliance with NFPA codes while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Electro-mechanical experience through work or education.
  • Able to work around mechanical/electrical equipment, climb ladders, carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must differentiate wire types/colors.
  • Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level I within 12 months.
  • Must be 18+ with a valid driver's license and eligible for Siemens fleet vehicle program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Operational Testing, Verification, and Acceptance: run routine reports to review system operation and support customer acceptance and AHJ.
  • Assist in customer training on system operations and provide necessary plans and fire safety documents for as-built drawings; identify code/non-conformance issues and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate with project site teams and trade contractors to schedule start-up services and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Our Fire Alarm Systems Technicians are responsible forthe installation, programming, start-up, and commissioning of state-of-the-art fire alarm equipment, including fire safety, mass notification, detectors, and field peripherals. Our Fire Alarm Technicians are the face of Siemens, and your expertise and regular interaction with the customer will help keep their buildings and occupants safe.

*Must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time within the SE*

As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will:
  • Participate in Operational Testing, Verification, and Acceptance:run routine reports to review system operation, conduct final inspections and testing, and support customer acceptance and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Assist in customer training on system operations and provide necessary plans and fire safety system documents for as-built drawings; identify code and non-conformance issues and make recommendations for system installation
  • Conduct project site communication and coordination by supporting scheduling trade contractors to coordinate start-up services and adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • E lectro-mechanical experience (either through professional experience and/or education)
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of environments in and around mechanical and electrical equipment, including climbing ladders, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Must be willing and able to differentiate types/colors of wire
  • Must have or obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level I within 12 months
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field
  • 1+ years’ experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
  • Ability to read/understand design and construction documents
