Job description

Location: Remote in Mid-Atlantic/Northeast Region

Purpose

The Traveling Safety Specialist plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety on Electrical Division job sites across multiple states. Under the guidance of the Safety Manager, this entry-level position supports all aspects of safety performance, compliance, and reporting. It requires knowledge of NFPA/OSHA regulations and Knobelsdorff safety protocols to assist project teams in executing projects safely and efficiently. As a 100% travel-based role, the Safety Specialist works remotely, gaining field experience and developing into a strategic safety professional.

Responsibilities
  • Advise and mentor project teams on safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide safety education and training as needed.
  • Oversee and audit safety documentation to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Conduct safety audits and incident investigations.
  • Partner with project teams to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Supervise adherence to safety rules and take action on violations.
  • Prepare safety statistics and compliance reports.
  • Implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Assist field personnel with safety challenges on-site.
  • Participate in pre-job hazard meetings and provide coaching.
  • Support pre-construction safety coordination.
  • Communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through presentations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel frequently, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications

  • Availability to travel extensively (up to 100%) within regional states, including overnight stays.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED/Fall Protection certification or willingness to obtain.
  • OSHA 30 Construction DOT card or willingness to obtain.
  • Preferably one year of safety-related experience.
  • Experience in electrical industry and NFPA standards is a plus.
  • Safety certifications (GSP, CSP, ASP, CHST) are desirable.
  • Bilingual skills, especially Spanish, preferred.
  • Basic project and construction administration knowledge.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to pass drug and background checks.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in safety management.
  • An associate’s degree in safety or construction management is a bonus.
  • Certifications like MEWP, Forklift, Skid steer training are beneficial.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, walk, and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
