Traveling Federal Construction Superintendent
Terra Site Constructors, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead daily field operations for government construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This traveling role oversees field coordination and project execution, with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget. Reporting to the assigned Project Manager, the Superintendent receives support from the General Superintendent and Safety Director. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with federal and Department of Defense construction practices and procedures throughout project execution.
- Prepare accurate daily project reports and quality control reports.
- Coordinate and oversee daily subcontractor activities in the field.
- Promote and maintain a safe, incident-free work environment; identify unsafe practices and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct daily safety meetings with project staff and subcontractors.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in safe working condition and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Identify potential change orders and ensure they are properly documented and reported.
- Support monthly schedule updates and field progress reporting.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-10 years of demonstrated field experience as a tradesperson, foreman, field engineer, or superintendent.
- Experience with government construction projects valued at $250,000 to $5 million required; experience with projects exceeding $5 million preferred.
- Education in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Supervisory experience in infrastructure, new construction, or renovation projects required.
- S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and OSHA 30-Hour certification required.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense standard contractor security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Experience with LEED, design-build, historic preservation, AT/FP, and/or ASHE standards is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a valid driver's license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
