Job summary

TST Tactical Defense Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Construction Superintendent responsible for ensuring on-time project completion in strict accordance with plans, specs, and codes. You will coordinate subcontractors, material and equipment, and manage schedule, budget, safety, and daily logs across multiple sites.

Extensive travel is required (100%), often extended periods, across various states. OSHA 30/First Aid/USACE CQM certifications are preferred and training may be provided.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of verifiable industry experience, preferably in General Contracting leadership.
  • Certifications preferred: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, USACE CQM, EM385 40-Hour.

TST TACTICAL DEFENSE SOLUTIONS, INC.

DBA TIDEWATER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES CORPORATION (TDSC)

Our search is primarily focused on qualified candidates who reside within approximately a 150 to 200 mile radius of Richmond, Virginia. Candidates outside of this area may also be considered. Due to the traveling nature of this position, relocation assistance is not provided.

SUMMARY:

This position requires the candidate to be solely responsible for and held accountable for the timely completion of the project and ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. Provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety. Valid driver’s license and decent driving record. OSHA 30/CPR-First Aid/USACE CQM Certifications all preferred but willing to train.

This position requires 100% travel and on-site work, often for extended periods, depending on project duration and location. Projects may be located across different states or regions within the United States. Assignments may consist of one large project in a single location or multiple smaller projects within the same region, depending on contract needs. Travel and lodging arrangements will be provided in accordance with company policy. Any per diem or other travel-related allowances, if applicable, will be determined based on project location, duration, and specific assignment requirements. The Superintendent must be willing and able to travel within the United States as required to support project operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPERINTENDENT:
  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
  • Communicate with project team regarding RFI’s, Potential CO’s and Material Submittals.
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
  • Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the jobsite.
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
  • Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
  • Assist in budgeting and award of subcontracts, if needed.
  • Assist in obtaining permits or approval of revisions.
  • Gather project material submittals and maintain records of approvals at the job-site.
  • Identify areas of work that are outside of subcontracted scope.
  • Preside at pre-construction meeting with each subcontractor.
  • Opening the jobsite at beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the day.
  • Assist in hiring sub-tier employees, if needed.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 100%, as needed and work on-site at project locations, often for extended periods, across various states or regions within the United States.
  • This is an in-person, on-site position.
  • Extensive travel may be required, with projects potentially located across different states or regions.
  • Assignments may consist of one large project in a single location or multiple smaller projects within the same region, depending on contract needs.
  • Travel and lodging arrangements will be provided in accordance with company policy. Any per diem or other travel-related allowances, if applicable, will be determined based on project location, duration, and specific assignment requirements. When company-provided housing or living quarters (such as an RV, apartment, or similar accommodations) are provided, per diem will not be provided.
  • NEED TO BE ABLE TO OBTAIN BASE ACCESS FOR ONGOING PROJECTS!
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable industry experience, preferably in General Contracting field leadership
  • Federal Construction experience preferred: USACE, NAVFAC, Department of Veterans Affairs, Coast Guard, Air Force
  • Certifications preferred: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, USACE CQM, EM385 40-Hour
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of construction means and methods and a thorough understanding of industry trades and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as construction specifications, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project & Outlook) is preferred.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, subcontractors, or employees of the organization.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Must be organized and have an eye for detail.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 100%, as needed, and work on-site at project locations, often for extended periods, across various states or regions within the United States.

  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to climb a ladder, work from scaffolding and manlifts, comfortable working at heights.
  • Ability to perform job duties while standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and on sloped surfaces.
  • This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Overtime may be required from time to time to meet project deadlines.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
SALARY:
  • Range: $80,000 - $130,000/year
  • Negotiable – depending on experience.
  • Paid Weekly on Fridays (Mon thru Sun Work Week) w/ paystubs emailed.
BENEFITS:
