Job summary

Wachter, Inc. in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Traveling Technician to support 500k+ sq. ft.

distribution centers with 50-60 hour weeks and extensive travel. You'll coordinate daily tasks with the Foreman, operate 40ft+ lifts, and help keep large installations on schedule. This full-time role offers overtime, per diem when overnight travel is required, paid weekly, and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of low-voltage or data cabling experience.
• Strong Cat6 and fiber termination and testing skills.
• Experience with paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Ability to read prints and work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working at height and in large warehouse environments.
• Ability to travel extensively and work 50-60 hour weeks.
• Proficient with smartphones, email, and basic spreadsheets.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber cabling.
• Perform paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Lead and support small crews of 2-4 technicians as a working lead when assigned.
• Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management.
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, innerduct, and tray.
• Operate boom and scissor lifts (40+ ft work).
• Troubleshoot cabling and system issues.
• Ensure cables are neatly dressed, labeled, and installed per standards.
• Provide daily progress updates to the Lead or Foreman.
• Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements.
