Commercial Restaurant and Retail Construction, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities across multiple projects.

This role requires extensive travel, coordinating subcontractors and field personnel, and ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. You will read drawings, manage daily operations, and communicate with project stakeholders to drive successful project turnovers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a construction superintendent or similar field leadership role.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and contracts.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices.
• Proficiency with common construction management software.

Job Description: Traveling Construction Superintendent

Position Summary

The Traveling Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. This position requires extensive travel to project sites throughout the assigned region or nationwide and serves as the primary field leader responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing daily operations, and maintaining strong communication with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through closeout.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Develop, monitor, and update project schedules while identifying and resolving potential delays.
• Conduct daily site inspections to verify workmanship, productivity, and compliance with company standards.
• Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and daily safety briefings.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies, promoting a culture of safety on every jobsite.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress updates, site logs, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Inspectors to resolve field issues.
• Review drawings and specifications to identify conflicts and implement solutions proactively.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and project turnover activities.
• Monitor project costs by minimizing rework, material waste, and schedule impacts.
• Assist with project punch lists, final inspections, and successful project closeout.
• Travel extensively to assigned project locations, remaining on-site for the duration of each project as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar field leadership role.
• Experience managing commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, retail, construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and quality control.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6 is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively and stay near project sites for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30 Certification (required or preferred)
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Experience with ground‑up commercial construction
• Experience managing projects valued between $1 million and $2 million.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.

Travel Requirements

This position requires frequent to continuous travel. Project assignments may last several months depending on project duration. Candidates must be willing to relocate temporarily to project locations as needed.
