Job summary

Etzel Engineer and Build, located north of Pittsburgh PA, seeks an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent with a background in Commercial, Healthcare and Mission Critical facilities. This is an immediate start, full-time, salary-based role requiring travel between project sites and out-of-state assignments.

You will manage day-to-day field operations, supervise subcontractors, maintain safety procedures, and coordinate with clients, inspectors and engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in commercial and/or mission critical construction.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and construction contract documents.
• Demonstrated leadership, organization and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Travel to/from assigned project sites as needed and occasionally to the office.
• Manage day-to-day field operations of construction projects.
• Supervise subcontractors effectively/efficiently.
• Create and maintain professional interactions with clients, inspectors, engineers.
• Manage project schedule, including weekly 3-week look ahead reports.
• Coordinate trades and supervise all field labor forces including subcontractors.
• Maintain daily job site safety procedures and JSAs.
• Maintain daily log of job site activities for PM check-ins.
• Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
• Perform and report field layout/survey.
• Manage field costs, including labor and material.
• Participate in weekly job progress meetings.
• Manage close-out process and warranty responses with PM.

Etzel Engineer and Build, located north of Pittsburgh PA is seeking to hire an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent with a background in Commercial, Healthcare and Mission Critical facilities.

This is an immediate start, full-time, salary-based position. This position will offer a competitive compensation package with a performance-based incentive program, including vehicle allowance and per diem, a comprehensive health and benefit package, and excellent growth potential. Job Duties:

• -Travel to/from assigned project sites as needed. Some travel to/from the office will be needed as well on occasion, such as bi-annual all hands on deck meetings.
• -Manage day-to-day field operations of construction projects.
• -Manage subcontractors effectively/efficiently.
• -Create and maintain professional interactions/relationships with clients, inspectors, engineers.
• -Manage project schedule, including weekly preparation of 3-week look ahead report.
• -Coordination among trades and directly supervise all field labor forces including subcontractors.
• -Maintain daily job site safety procedures and JSAs.
• -Maintain a daily log of job site activities for project manager check-in's.
• -Maintain job site security.
• -Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
• -Perform and report field layout/survey.
• -Manage field costs, including labor and material.
• -Participate in weekly job progress meetings.
• -Manage close-out process and warranty responses with Project Manager.

Desired Characteristics:

• -5 or more years’ experience in commercial and/or mission critical construction. Prior experience in data centers and high reliability facilities, with a deep understanding of their specialized MEP systems is a plus.
• -Be able to present a credible, confident, positive image of oneself and the company during oral presentations to clients, designers, and other stakeholders.
• -Capable of addressing difficult issues with tried and true problem-solving techniques and solutions.
• -Ability to use software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Suite and Project) and other technology for documentation of work in the field, RFIs, daily logs, safety incidents.
• -Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and construction contract documents.
• -Demonstrate strong leadership, organization, time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
• -Must understand all the trades associated with commercial construction and be able to directly supervise all field labor forces including subcontractors.
• -Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies and/or exert 50-70 lbs.; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls and machinery; to work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions, to wear and work in personnel protective equipment.
