Job summary

KTA-Tator, Inc. seeks Traveling Commercial Building Inspectors to perform field inspections of retail stores nationwide. This role blends field work with project execution, involving travel and home-office elements.

Ideal candidates have building construction education, familiarity with coatings/blueprints, and strong communication skills. Travel is a major component, with occasional longer rotations, and a path to become an industry leader.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction or related field preferred.
• AMPP Basic coatings credentials preferred.
• Willing to travel extensively ~70% (2-week rotations, up to 4 weeks at a time).
• Experience with insurance property inspections, catastrophe inspections, or roof inspections.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and editing blueprints or as-built drawings (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Autodesk).
• Experience with construction, repair, painting and/or renovation of retail buildings.
• Experience with concrete slabs, masonry construction, and/or roofing preferred.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; ability to use a laptop/iPad.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; company vehicles available; mileage reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of retail box stores nationwide before, during, and after remodel projects.
• Identify exterior coating, sealant, and caulking problems.
• Conduct and record results of building diagnostic tests on floors, walls, roofs.
• Gather building condition data and measurements of components and defects.
• Take field notes and photographs; summarize results electronically.
• Interface with store managers and restoration contractors; complete quality assurance reports.
• Examine the building envelope for design or construction deficiencies.
