Job summary

KTA-Tator, Inc. (KTA) seeks full-time Traveling Commercial Building Inspectors to perform field inspections of retail box stores across the United States, before, during and after remodel projects.

This role blends site work with project execution, ideal for experienced building inspectors, roofing inspectors, construction professionals, or insurance claim inspectors who enjoy travel and hands-on investigation of building systems.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction or related field preferred.
• AMPP Basic coatings credentials preferred.
• Ability to travel extensively ~70% of the time (~2-week rotations, up to 4 weeks at a time).
• Experience with insurance property inspections, catastrophe inspections, or roof inspections is highly transferable.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and editing/revising blueprints or as-built drawings (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Autodesk).
• Experience with construction, repair, painting and/or renovation of retail buildings.
• Experience with concrete slabs, masonry construction, and/or roofing preferred.
• Ability to use a laptop and iPad; proficient in Word and Excel.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; company vehicle available in some cases.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of retail box stores during remodels and after completion.
• Identify exterior coating, sealant, and caulking problems; record results of diagnostic tests.
• Gather building condition data and measurements; take field notes and photographs.
• Summarize results electronically and prepare QA reports.
• Interface with store managers and restoration contractors; coordinate QA processes.
• Examine building envelope for design or construction deficiencies.
