Job summary

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. seeks a Traveling CDL Dump Driver to support heavy civil construction projects across the Midwest. You will safely transport aggregates, asphalt, dirt, and materials to and from job sites while collaborating with project teams to keep operations running efficiently.

Must be willing to travel out of state; duties include inspections, record-keeping, and coordinating schedules. Candidates should have a Class A CDL, DOT medical card, and at least 3 years of dump truck

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Valid DOT Medical Card with Non-Excepted Interstate certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating dump trucks preferred.
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and best practices for materials.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a dump truck and minimize risk and liabilities.
• Ensure load weight complies with state and federal regulations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
• Maintain records of trip details including mileage, fuel, maintenance, and hours worked.
• Coordinate material transport with project managers and equipment operators.
• Adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
• Perform basic maintenance on the truck as needed.
• Extensive travel may be required.
• Navigate dump trucks using maps or GPS to diverse locations.
• Safely wear PPE at all times.
• Record hours worked using an ELD in accordance with Hours of Service regulations.

As a Traveling CDL Dump Driver, you'll safely transport aggregates, asphalt, dirt, and construction materials to and from job sites while working closely with project teams to keep operations running efficiently.

Must be willing to do out of state travel

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate a dump truck in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
• Ensure load weight is in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
• Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.
• Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material transport and delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner.
• Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
• Perform basic maintenance on the truck when necessary.
• Extensive travel may be required.
• Accurately navigate a dump truck using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off.
• Properly wear and safely use PPE.
• Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL
• Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating dump trucks preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for materials.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Basic mechanical skills for minor truck maintenance.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.
