Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc is looking for a skilled tractor trailer operator in Bucyrus, Kansas. Responsibilities include safely operating the tractor trailer, securing heavy equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position requires effective communication and the ability to navigate to various job sites.
The ideal candidate must hold a valid Class A CDL with tank endorsement and have a minimum of 3 years experience with lowboy trailers. Basic mechanical skills are preferred and a willingness to travel is essential.
Safely operate a tractor trailer in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities. Load and secure heavy construction equipment and machinery onto the trailer for transport in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Accurately measure load dimensions and weight to ensure compliance with OS/OW permit requirements and State and Federal regulations. Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition. Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked. Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate equipment transport and delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner. Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures. Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary. Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials at job sites as needed. Occasional heavy lifting. Extensive travel may be required. Accurately navigate a tractor trailer using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off. Properly wear and safely use PPE. Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations. Documenting equipment pick up and deliveries. Ensuring accuracy of pickup and delivery.
