Job summary

Clean Energy Services (CES) is seeking a BESS Technician II to travel across Texas, covering multiple utility‑scale battery storage sites. You will perform PM and corrective maintenance, support outages, and ensure safe, compliant operations with LOTO and NFPA/OSHA standards.

The role requires 2+ years in renewable energy or electrical O&M, plus site leadership and customer‑facing experience. Expect regional travel, overnight stays, and a company truck with per diem options.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands‑on experience in renewable energy or electrical O&M (BESS, solar, substation, or industrial power)
• 6–12 months of site leadership experience including managing multiple sites concurrently
• 1–2 years of customer-facing responsibilities, including hosting/attending client calls
• Inverter/PCS and/or battery system troubleshooting experience
• Medium‑voltage & high‑voltage awareness with switching and LOTO discipline
• Ability to read single‑line diagrams, schematics, PM specs and OEM manuals
• Clear, professional communicator with ability to produce accurate daily reports
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Able to work independently across multiple sites
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, work at heights, outdoors

Responsibilities

• Rotate through assigned BESS sites across the Texas portfolio and cover scheduled visits
• Complete site safety orientation and hazard assessment on arrival
• Serve as on-site presence for sites without dedicated staff and travel to support others, including overnight travel
• Assist with planning, site routing and access coordination, outages and timing with ROC and client
• Support other CES O&M sites as the traveling technician
• Execute PM checks on battery, PCS/inverter, and balance‑of‑plant per OEM specs
• Perform module and rack inspections, BMS checks, thermal, electrical inspections, and replacements
• Demonstrate proper lockout/tagout and test‑before‑touch procedures and safe de‑energization
• Provide rapid fault diagnosis and assist repairs for battery/PCS/MV/HV equipment
• Respond to ROC alarms and outages within targets and document findings
• Document warranty issues and manage on-site spare parts and daily reports
• Maintain safety compliance with NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, OSHA, NEC/NESC
• Participate in safety trainings, tailboards, and rotation for on‑call duty
• Carry out root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
