Job summary

Optiv Energy Inc. is seeking motivated Field Service Technicians to support utility-scale battery energy storage and solar projects across North America. You will inspect, install, commission, and service equipment at client sites, ensuring safety and performance while adhering to project schedules.

Candidates should bring hands-on electrical/mechanical knowledge, strong problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset. Extensive travel, flexible hours, and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and energy systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively to client sites.
• Ability to work outside regular hours and weekends as needed.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Background checks may be performed by the employer.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to ensure uptime.
• Battery charge/discharge cycling and module swaps.
• Firmware updates and energization/de-energization procedures.
• LOTO and safety compliance.
• Troubleshooting issues using schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Retrofit campaigns and customer support collaboration.
• Document service activities in internal systems.
• Stay updated with industry trends and innovations.
• Adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a zero-incident workplace.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Optiv Energy Inc. is seeking motivated, positive, organized and technical Field Service Technicians with direct BESS and Solar experience to join our team. As a Field Service Technician in the Renewable Energy industry, you will play a pivotal role managing various scopes of work on renewable energy power plants during construction and operations. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the growth of our fast-growing company, while making a positive impact on the environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Travel to client sites to oversee, install, and/or repair utility scale battery energy storage and solar systems

Cold / Hot Commissioning

Routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. Tasks include:

• battery charge / discharge cycling
• module swaps
• firmware updates
• energization / de energization
• LOTO
• troubleshooting issues by interpreting schematics, blueprints and wiring diagrams to bring units back online
• retrofit campaigns

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical support and ensure customer satisfaction.

Train on the proper use and maintenance of equipment

Document all service activities, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades, using our internal systems.

Stay up to date with industry trends and technological advancements to enhance your expertise and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a zero-incident workplace

REQUIREMENTS:

Technical Degree or equivalent field experience

Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or a similar role.

A positive and team focused mindset

Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and/or energy systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet and make sound decisions.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients and internal teams.

Ability to travel extensively to client sites

Flexibility to work outside regular business hours and weekends, based on project needs.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
