Job summary

Kimmel Associates in Ohio is seeking a Traveling Assistant Project Manager – Structural Steel to support field leaders on active projects. This field-facing, salaried role requires travel and hands-on exposure to drawings, schedules, budgets, materials, equipment, and crews.

You'll learn project management processes under seasoned leaders, assist with coordination, RFIs, submittals, cost tracking, and closeout, and gain frontline experience on commercial and industrial steel projects.

Qualifications

• Recent graduates or candidates with 0–3 years of commercial construction experience.
• Construction internships or co-ops will be considered.
• Four-year degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with construction/project management software is a plus.
• Structural steel project exposure helpful but not required.
• Strong organization, communication, and follow-through.
• Willingness to travel and work on active construction jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and contract requirements to flag issues early.
• Support Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination.
• Coordinate equipment, materials, deliveries, and information for field crews.
• Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, and updates.
• Assist with purchase orders, subcontracts, and cost tracking.
• Visit active jobsites and communicate with general contractors and vendors.
• Help monitor project schedules, documentation, and overall progress.
• Learn and apply structural steel PM processes under senior leaders.
• Support project closeout and ensure required documentation is completed.
