Job summary

Novax Recruitment Group is sourcing an Assistant Project Manager – Structural Steel to join a growing regional contractor. This role focuses on coordinating steel erection projects, reviewing drawings and budgets, and aligning field operations with project goals.

You will gain exposure to commercial and operational aspects of structural steel projects, working with Project Managers and field teams to move work from award through completion.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of commercial construction experience.
• Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree highly preferred.
• Experience with a General Contractor or Specialty Contractor encouraged.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with structural steel erection and construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, contract documents, and project budgets.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, deliveries, subcontractors, and field requirements.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress reports, and project documentation.
• Track field productivity, project costs, and progress.
• Set up and maintain projects within project management software.
• Work closely with field operations to understand jobsite requirements.
• Assist with timesheets, daily reports, and onboarding of new ironworkers.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project partners.
• Support multiple projects across the region as required.

$70,000–$90,000 Base Salary + Bonus Opportunity

Until you're dealing with steel deliveries, field crews, equipment, changing site conditions, drawings, RFIs, and multiple teams all needing to stay aligned.

That's where a strong Assistant Project Manager makes a difference.

An established structural steel contractor with decades of experience delivering commercial, institutional, and industrial projects across Ohio is looking to add an Assistant Project Manager to its growing team.

The business has continued to expand as part of a larger national steel erection organisation, creating an opportunity for someone who wants to build their career within a company with strong industry experience, resources, and a growing project pipeline.

What We’re Looking For
