Job summary

Fabick Cat is a leading provider of power generation solutions, specializing in installation, maintenance, and repair of generators up to 3000 kW. This role focuses on commissioning, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance across diverse sites.

The position requires extensive travel (80%) with overnight stays, serving customers in Wisconsin, Missouri, and surrounding regions. A high school diploma with technical credentials and CAT generator knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and repair of power generators (50kW to 3000kW).
• Strong knowledge of CAT generator systems, including diesel and gas engines, electrical components, and control systems.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, maintenance, and repair of CAT power generators up to 3000KW, including natural gas, biogas, and diesel variants.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance for reliability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with generators and related equipment.
• Perform load bank testing and other diagnostics to assess performance.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, work orders, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding operation and maintenance of generators.
• Ensure OSHA safety regulations and company policies are followed during all service activities.
• Collaborate with technicians and teams to resolve complex issues.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in power generation.
• Interact with commercial customers to understand needs and ensure satisfaction.

Position Overview:

Responsibilities:

• Perform commissioning, maintenance, and repair of CAT power generators up to 3000KW, including those powered by natural gas, biogas, and diesel.


• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability of generators.


• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with generators and related equipment.


• Perform load bank testing and other diagnostic procedures to assess generator performance.


• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.


• Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding generator operation and maintenance.


• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies during all service activities.


• Collaborate with other technicians and team members to resolve complex technical issues.


• Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in power generation.


• Interact with commercial customers to understand their needs, provide solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.

This position will be 80% travel and overnights at hotels.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.


• Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.


• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights as needed.


• Technician travel will consist within the Wisconsin and be assigned to the territory surrounding the branch of hire. Average of 45 hours per week, but additional OT is offered if desired. Less than 15% of overnight travel annually.
