Job summary

Fabick Cat in Missouri seeks a Power Systems Project Manager to coordinate all phases of Caterpillar power generation projects—from purchase through commissioning. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage schedules, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of generator sets, transfer switches, switchgear, and UPS systems.

You will develop project plans, monitor performance, and maintain customer communication while staying current with codes and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of project management experience in power or related industries.
• Proven technical knowledge of diesel and gaseous fuel engines, generator sets, and power systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Power Systems Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the personnel, technical activities, materials, and resources required to successfully deliver and commission Caterpillar power generation systems. This includes generator sets, transfer switches, switchgear, UPS systems, and related power generation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage assigned new and used power generation projects from purchase order through final customer acceptance, including product selection, procurement, delivery, site coordination, installation, startup, and project closeout.
• Manage projects of varying size and complexity while partnering closely with Sales, Product Support, Engineering, Service, Administration, and leadership to deliver projects on time, meet customer expectations, and maximize project profitability.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure equipment is delivered, installed, and ready for startup on or ahead of schedule.
• Coordinate project engineering, site meetings, installation, startup, commissioning, and final acceptance with customers, contractors, engineers, utility companies, field service technicians, and internal teams.
• Maintain a high level of product, application, and industry expertise through manufacturer training, product updates, technical resources, industry associations, and applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
• Manage project administration and financial performance, including vendor purchases, project expenditures, reporting, documentation, and final project financial reconciliation in partnership with administration and leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required or equivalent years of technical experience in the power generation industry.
• 2-3 years of experience in project management is required; experience managing complex technical, construction, or equipment projects strongly preferred.
• 1-3 years training experience required, preferably in a technical environment.
• Proven technical knowledge of diesel / gaseous fueled engines, electrical power generation, power distribution, engine generator sets, system integration design, assembly, installation, commissioning, operation, switchgear, transfer switches, fuel systems, exhaust systems, enclosures, and ancillary equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation, including project specifications, equipment manuals, schematic wiring diagrams, electrical drawings, blueprints, and engineering plans.
• Strong project management, organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and internal and external simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to customers, contractors, engineers, technicians, and internal teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business software applications.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail, project quality, and customer expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience, preferably within power generation, heavy equipment, construction, or engineering.
• 2-3 years of project management experience specifically supporting power generation or electrical infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of Caterpillar diesel and gaseous-fueled engines, generator sets, controls, and associated power generation systems.
• Experience with CAT electric power products, including generator sets, paralleling systems, switchgear, automatic transfer switches, and power distribution.
• Experience coordinating the engineering, installation, startup, testing, and commissioning of CAT-powered generator systems.
• Experience working with Caterpillar dealers, customers, contractors, engineers, vendors, and field service teams on complex power generation projects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend and stoop to perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
