Qualifications

Role Responsibilities

Surgical techs are vital members of a hospital's healthcare team, acting as a surgeon's right hand. Responsibilities include preparing surgical equipment, assisting during procedures, and coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care. Additional duties may involve maintaining detailed reports, and providing respectful, individualized care to patients, families, and staff.

Requirements to Apply

Active certification from NBSTSA, NCCSA, or ABSA, or evidence of at least one year of experience as a First Assistant surgical tech or first assistant within the past three years. Non-certified candidates must have at least 10 years of surgical tech experience, subject to facility acceptance. Graduates from accredited programs with a score of 80% or higher on Nomad competency exams are eligible.
