Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist for a hospital OR role. Must have recent open heart scrub experience and EPIC proficiency to support CV cases in a busy surgery unit.

Responsibilities include preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, counts with the RN, and maintaining supplies. Day shift with about 50% call, travel-friendly and opportunities to mentor RNs are available.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent open heart scrub experience.
Recent experience in the specialty within last 3 months.
Ability to scrub open heart cases independently or with a second scrub tech.
CST or TS-C NCCT certification required; BLS required.
High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred.
Possess or be eligible for applicable license.

Responsibilities

Work in hospital OR within Surgery unit on day shift 7:00 AM–5:30 PM.
Provide call coverage approximately 50% of the time.
Utilize EPIC EMR for case documentation and orders.
Prepare sterile field; retract and pass instruments to surgeons.
Perform instrument, sponge, needle counts with RN.
Assemble and check supplies and equipment for each case.
Maintain equipment inventory and perform housekeeping duties as needed.
Transport patients per unit schedules and priorities.
May teach or train RNs to scrub CV cases.
Vaccinations required; exemptions considered.
Local candidates welcomed; no radius restriction.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty required, with recent experience within the last 3 months
Ability to scrub open heart cases independently as well as in tandem with a second scrub tech
CST certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification required
BLS certification required
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate's or Technical Degree preferred
License required if applicable
Experience with general OR cases such as robotic, ortho, urology, and gyn preferred

Responsibilities

Hospital operating room setting within the Surgery unit
Day shift schedule, typically 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Requires call coverage approximately 50% of the time, generally in full-week increments
EPIC EMR experience required
Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field
Retract and pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during procedures
Perform instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN according to established standards
Assemble and check required supplies and equipment prior to each case
Maintain equipment inventory for assigned specialty
Clean equipment and facilities and perform housekeeping duties as needed
Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities
Open to candidates interested in teaching or training RNs to scrub CV cases
Required vaccinations must be completed as a condition of employment, with medical and religious exemptions considered
Candidates with more than 5 days of requested RTO will not be considered
Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates with no radius restriction
