Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified OB Surgical Technologist for a Labor & Delivery unit. The role requires NBSTSA certification, OB experience, and a VA license in hand at submission for a night shift assignment.

The position is a 13-week travel assignment with 3x12-hour nights, working in a teaching hospital/Trauma Level I setting. Expect a strong emphasis on aseptic technique, gynecologic cases, and potential cystoscopy or laparoscopic-assisted procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in OB surgical tech or related role.
• BLS certification required.
• NBSTSA certification required.
• VA state license required in hand at submission.
• BSN preferred.
• Epic EMR experience required unless otherwise noted.
• Experience with gynecologic procedures including C-sections, D&C, tubal ligation, and hysterectomy.
• Vaginal delivery, vaginal hysterectomy, and laparoscopic-assisted GYN procedures preferred.
• Cystoscopy and obstetric skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Certified OB/L&D Tech role in a Labor & Delivery unit.
• 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I setting preferred.
• Support surgical and delivery procedures within the Labor & Delivery unit using aseptic technique and sterilization protocols.
• Assist with gynecologic and obstetric cases including cesarean sections and hysterectomies.
• May assist with cystoscopy or laparoscopic-assisted cases based on unit needs.
• Float within scope of practice as required by facility policy.
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding.
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, disclosed prior to submission.
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached.
• 50-mile local travel restriction for selected units.
