Cross Country Nurses is seeking a Step-Down Unit RN for a travel assignment in Missouri. You will provide high-acuity care to adult patients transitioning from ICU, including vasopressor titration, arterial line management, and ventilator care.

The position requires ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, plus minimum 2 years of clinical experience. EPIC EHR experience and prior in-hospital step-down work are preferred. Expect 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours/week, 13-week duration.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Step Down Unit nurse position available in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing high-acuity care to adult patients transitioning from intensive care settings. The position requires proficiency in managing vasopressors, sedation medications, arterial lines, chest tubes, and ventilated patients, with a focus on titration and advanced patient monitoring.

Job Details

• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week


• Start Date: 10/05/2026


• End Date: 01/04/2027


• Patient Ratios: 3 patients per nurse during days and nights, 3 patients on weekends


• Schedule: Two weekend shifts every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)


• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)


• Required Qualifications: Licensed as a registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, successful completion of ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, and competent in arterial line management, ventilator care, and cardiac telemetry.


• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with charting in EPIC EHR system, prior inpatient step-down or telemetry experience, and recent hospital care.


• Additional Requirements: Experience with titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, art lines, cardiac arrhythmias, chest tubes, and ventilator troubleshooting is essential. Must have proficiency with BIPAP, OptiFlow, and arterial line management, as these are non-negotiable.
