Job Description & Requirements

Fusion Medical Staffing‑Therapy is recruiting a travel Speech Language Pathologist for a 13‑week assignment in Peoria, Illinois. The position requires a traveling roster for 40 hours per week on eight‑hour days.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid Speech Language Pathology license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology
  • Experience in Speech‑Language Pathology (New graduates are welcome)
  • Additional certifications or licenses may be required
Summary

The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. The SLP develops individualized treatment plans and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.

Essential Work Functions
  • Use standardized assessments and clinical observations to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
  • Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence‑based practices.
  • Continuously assess patient progress, modify plans, and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, home exercises, and safe swallowing practices.
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in quality assurance and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
  • Proficient reading and writing in English.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency with PC skills.
  • Physical ability to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Effective teamwork with a diverse group of personnel.
  • Fine manipulation and motor skills for assisting with procedures and equipment.
  • Mental resilience to handle frequent public contact, deadlines under pressure, and irregular activity schedules.
  • Visual acuity and clear communication ability.
