Job summary

Abbott in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead field coordination on commercial projects, ensuring schedule performance, cost control and safety compliance while directing subcontractors.

You will review progress with the Project Manager, analyze manpower and material needs, coordinate with clients and field staff, enforce policies, and prepare reports to keep leadership informed on overall project status and risk factors.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of field experience in commercial projects.
• Commercial and Life Science construction experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience as General Foreman, Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent.
• Strong communications, interpersonal, organizational and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares project schedule and maintains status reports.
• Oversees field coordination, quality control and day-to-day supervision of subcontractors.
• Reviews progress with Project Manager and client representatives; larger projects may have multiple supers.
• Ensures safety standards are implemented and adhered to by craftsmen and equipment operators.
• Directs subcontractor activities within pharma projects.
• Analyzes manpower, material and equipment needs and communicates requirements to others.
• Enforces policies, procedures and work rules established by field management.
• Prepares forecasts and reports to keep supervisors informed on progress.
• Ensures operating areas are safe and equipment is in good condition.
