Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pulmonary Step Down/PCU assignment at a Level I Trauma Center in Connecticut. The role requires ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy experience, with a CT license and 2+ years of RN practice (1.5 years acceptable from Level I trauma centers). ACLS, BLS, NIHSS are mandatory.

Expect day shifts, 3x12s, and occasional weekend work. Travelers are supported with housing allowances, travel reimbursements, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience (1.5 years accepted if from Level I trauma center or large hospital).
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• ICU/Vent/Tele/Tracheostomy experience required.
• Ventilator experience is a hard requirement.
• Trauma Center experience at a large facility required.
• One professional reference required.

Responsibilities

• Caring for Pulmonary Step Down patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
• Work in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown environments with typical 1:3 ratio.
• Day shift 7:00–19:00, 3x12 hour shifts; every other weekend.
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs; Epic EMR use.
• Provide respiratory care and monitoring for ventilated patients.

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pulmonary Step Down/PCU position requiring ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• ICU/Vent/Tele/Tracheostomy experience required
• Ventilator experience is a hard requirement
• Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, respiratory care including ventilator and tracheostomy management, oxygen administration, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, use of rapid response/code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
• One professional reference required

Responsibilities

• Pulmonary Step Down Unit caring for patients requiring mechanical ventilation
• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work setting
• Average patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:00)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide care to Pulmonary Step Down patients requiring mechanical ventilation and respiratory support
• Position located at a Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with 1,567 staffed beds
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities if needed
• First-time travelers are accepted
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
• Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the hospital
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
