Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Neuro RN for night shift at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring compact RN licensure and telemetry experience. The role includes on-site nursing duties, 3x12-hour night shifts, and patient care in a fast-paced trauma/neuro setting.

Candidates must hold an active Compact CT RN license or equivalent Level I trauma experience, BLS/NIHSS, and at least 2 years in Neuro MS/Tele. Travel eligibility and Epic charting familiarity are expected.

Qualifications

• Active Compact CT RN license required or 1.5 years Level I Trauma Center/large hospital experience
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years Neuro MS/Tele experience
• Trauma Level I experience required for consideration
• IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia management
• Chest tube management and tracheostomy care preferred
• 1 professional reference required

Responsibilities

• Stepdown Neuro telemetry unit within a Level I Trauma Center/academic medical center
• Patient ratio averages 1:4-5 for day and night shifts
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide telemetry nursing care focusing on monitoring and emergency response
• Participate in rapid response/code team activities as needed
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations
• COVID vaccine and booster required with exemptions only
• RTO requests up to 7 days auto-approved
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside 75-mile radius
• Former perm staff separated for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Travelers may participate in disaster or emergency response activities

• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required in Neuro MS/Tele setting
• Trauma Level I experience required for consideration at this facility
• Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia management
• Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols preferred
• 1 professional reference required for consideration
