Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU position on the night shift. The ideal candidate holds a BSN, an active Illinois RN license, and ACLS/NIHSS certifications. Responsibilities include care in a PCU with telemetry, renal, neuro, GI, and psychiatric cases, plus on-call and weekend rotations.

Experience with cardiac monitoring, wound care, and isolation precautions is required. Epic charting is used for documentation, and travel-ready references are expected.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in hand required; emergency or pending licenses not accepted
• BSN is required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required through AHA

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, renal, gastrointestinal, neurological, and psychiatric cases
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Weekend shifts required
• On-call requirement: may be placed on call until 1am if census drops
• 30-minute meal break
• Uses Epic charting system
• Floating between units or facilities may be requested, though rare
• Provide direct patient care within a progressive care/stepdown unit setting
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams as needed
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Prior employment history with the health system, including any acquired facilities, must be disclosed if applicable

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU position requiring BSN, IL RN license, and ACLS/NIHSS certifications for a night shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in hand required; emergency or pending licenses not accepted
• BSN required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required through AHA
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and PICC line management, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and tracheostomy care required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, pacemakers, and pre/post cardiac catheterization required
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration), PCA, and heparin protocols required
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with renal failure management, continuous bladder irrigation, and pre/post hemodialysis care required
• Experience with intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal management required
• Two professional references required, with one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Charge RN within the last year
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront and cannot be added later
