Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for 4x12 day shifts in a Trauma Level I facility. Requires at least 1 year of PCU recent experience and trauma-level I background, with 2+ years RN experience and TN/Compact license.

Responsibilities include direct patient care in PCU/DOU/Tele, floating to MS/Tele, and participating in education alongside clinical duties. Epic experience preferred and shift flexibility is available.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required at time of consideration.
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certification is the only accepted form).
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required, including at least 1 year PCU in past 2 years.
• Trauma Level I facility experience required.
• Respiratory care skills: BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, chest tube, ABG interpretation.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management.
• Cardiac/vasoactive drips management (titration not required).
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation; rapid response/code team experience.
• Wound care and isolation precautions; PPE experience.
• Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing (max two attempts).
• Drug test to be completed 12–14 days prior to start.
• Facial hair trimmed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown at a Trauma Level I facility.
• Take day shifts, 4x12 hours, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM.
• Floating to MS/Telemetry units as needed; patient ratios 1:5 on PCU, 1:7 on floater units.
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education.
• Epic charting system experience preferred.
• Total care including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal patients.

• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required)
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team utilization
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
• Relias EKG testing required within 72 hours of signing, with a maximum of two attempts allowed
• Drug test must be completed within 12-14 calendar days prior to start
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines

Responsibilities

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting at a Trauma Level I facility
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• 36/36, 36/48, and 48/48 schedule options available
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on PCU; ratio of 1:7 when floated to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units
• Floating required, including to MS/Tele units
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care within a Trauma Level I PCU setting, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal patient populations
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care duties
• General orientation begins on Sundays, including online CBL modules averaging 4-5 hours
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside 100 miles or more from the facility's service area; local candidates are not accepted
• Facility may cancel or call off one scheduled shift biweekly without financial penalty due to census decrease
• Additional shifts picked up above the work commitment may be flexed as needed without penalty
