Job summary
American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for an Acute Care/ICU unit in Brevard, NC, requiring an active NC or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent nursing experience.
The role features a night shift (6:45 PM–7:15 AM) in a 30-bed unit with 2–4:1 ICU/step-down and 5–6:1 Med-Surg patient ratios, and Cerner EMR usage. Travel-friendly assignment with team-based care and diverse benefits.
Qualifications
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required, to be completed prior to end of orientation.
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required.
- ICU or step-down experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of Med-Surg experience preferred.
- Experience with IV starts, CVL, arterial lines, foley catheters, EKG monitoring, and wound care preferred.
- Cerner EMR experience preferred.
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Acute care unit combining Med-Surg and ICU/step-down patient care, 30 beds with 40+ staff.
- Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.
- Patient ratios of 2-4:1 for ICU/step-down and 5-6:1 for Med-Surg, supported by 2-3 PCTs per floor.
- Utilizes IV pumps, SCDs, Nova Stat glucometer, wound vac, Baxter feeding pump, lift equipment, and Pyxis.
- Charting performed in Cerner EMR.
- Weekend rotation required approximately every 3rd Monday and Friday within a 6-week schedule.
- Holiday coverage required per facility staffing matrix.
- Floating to TCU may be required.

- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
