American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of recent PCU/stepdown experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with cardiac telemetry monitoring
- Night shift rotating schedule (3x12 hours one week, 4x12 hours the next) from 19:00 to 7:30
- Floating required within scope of practice
- Every other weekend required
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Meditech charting system experience preferred
- Start Date: Oct 13, 2026
- Length: 13 weeks
- Openings: 3

Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of current Telemetry/PCU/Stepdown experience required
- 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and cardiac drip management
- Experience with chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula required
- Experience with CVA, post-TPA care, and pre/post neurosurgery patients required
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias required
- Two professional references required, one from a Charge nurse or higher and one from a supervisor, both completed within the last year
- Valid driver's license required with address matching permanent address
Additional Information
- Provide care to cardiac, neurological, renal, and post-surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Manage patients with substance withdrawal, seizure disorders, and renal failure requiring continuous bladder irrigation
- Administer medications including heparin protocols, PCA, and epidural analgesia
- Perform wound care and manage isolation precautions/PPE
- Monitor chemotherapy administration for oncology patients
- Must reside within 75 miles of the facility to be eligible for this position
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; medical and religious exemptions considered case-by-case
- Up to 7 days of RTO considered if submitted upfront; no changes accepted once approved
- Must work either a major or minor shift on every holiday
- Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
- Travelers who complete one year must take a minimum 6-month break before returning to the system
