Job summary

American Traveler, LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment in Wisconsin. The role requires 2 years of recent med/surg and PCU experience and WI or Compact RN licensure, plus current BLS and ACLS certification. A telemetry exam will be administered prior to start.

Night shifts are 4x12 hours with 1:3–6 patient ratios and potential weekend rotation. Travel-friendly benefits such as housing allowance and licensure reimbursements are provided.

• Standby call and float as needed; night shifts 1830–0700.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of recent med/surg and PCU experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI State or Compact)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in med/surg and PCU
• 1 year of recent PCU or ICU experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to assignment start, including strict pass/fail criteria for adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
• First-time travelers must have more than 5 years of RN experience
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• All references must be removed from submission profile

Responsibilities

• Work in the PCU of a hospital setting, caring for occasional ICU/PCU overflow patients
• Care for all acuity types and patient ratios of 1:3-6
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 1830-0700
• Weekend rotation and every other holiday required
• Standby call as needed
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Provide nursing care for cardiac telemetry and progressive care patients, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Free onsite parking available
• Facility is part of UW Health, offering care across more than 80 primary and specialty clinics in the Dane County area
• A 48-hour contract may be considered for candidates willing to work additional weekends
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have strong experience and more than 5 years of RN experience
