American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN with vent, trach, and G-tube skills for a unique children's hospital unit requiring 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license in hand.

The unit houses 39 beds with diverse pediatric care, patient ratios of 1:3-4, and day shifts (7:00-19:30). This 13-week assignment includes lodging and meals with comprehensive travel benefits.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN with vent, trach, and G-tube skills for a unique children's hospital unit requiring 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license in hand.

Details

• Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds housing all specialties in a single unit
• Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
• Acute care unit caring for chronically ill children, including those with tracheostomies and chronic ventilators (no drips, surgical, or transitional patients)
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Day shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Open to accommodating block schedules

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted; pending license accepted)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Vent, trach, and G-tube experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Skills in respiratory care, care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, and management of gastric tubes required
• Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide acute care to chronically ill pediatric patients with complex technology-dependent needs
• Scrubs of any color accepted as long as neat and clean; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date; no RTO may be added once the contract has started
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Previous staff members of the facility or affiliated clinics are not eligible for consideration
• Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
