Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Registered Nurse for a 13-week Progressive Care Unit assignment, focusing on telemetry and neuro steps in a Magnet-designated teaching hospital. The role features a 3x12-hour day shift (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with 1:3-4 RN-to-patient ratios and periodic floating to a nearby affiliated hospital.

The unit provides stroke and cardiac care, NIHSS training, and Epic charting. Local candidates preferred; travel accommodations and housing support offered by American Traveler.

Qualifications

• Active Oregon RN license or pending; emergency license accepted.
• BLS certification required through AHA.
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS/Tele/PCU.
• PCU and neuro stepdown experience with NIHSS certification preferred.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and dysrhythmia management.
• Experience with non-invasive airway management and peripheral line care.
• Experience with cardiac drips such as nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, and Nicardipine.
• Rapid response team activation experience required.
• Isolation precaution and PPE knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• 13-week assignment in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching hospital.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4.
• Every other weekend required, but not guaranteed.
• May float within scope to meet facility needs, including to a nearby affiliated hospital.
• Uses Epic for charting.
• 36 guaranteed hours per week.
• Care for patients with neurological and cardiac conditions including strokes and arrhythmias.
• Unit is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center and Spine Center of Excellence.
• Staff receive NIHSS training, swallow screen, and spine immobilization.
• Works closely with a dedicated Stroke Navigator.
• Floating may be required to a nearby affiliated hospital approximately 15 minutes away.
