Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a 36-bed Progressive Care Unit in a Level 2 trauma center. MO or Compact RN licensure and NIH Stroke Certification are required, with BLS/ACLS current.

A minimum of 1 year PCU experience and strong assessment/critical thinking skills are essential. Responsibilities include night shift 7P-7A for 13 weeks, with rotating weekends/holidays, floating to Telemetry as needed, and providing direct bedside care under Meditech documentation.

Qualifications

• Active RN license MO or Compact required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Minimum 1 year PCU or related specialty experience
• Strong advanced assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience managing vasoactive drips
• Familiarity with central line, PICC line, and chest tube placement preferred
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• Two professional references required for Missouri assignments

Responsibilities

• 36-bed Progressive Care Unit within a Level 2 trauma center hospital with Stroke and STEMI Accreditation
• Patient ratios of 1:3 (AM) to 1:4-5 (PM), supported by patient care techs when stretched
• Predominantly total RN-based care with unit secretaries available 7am-7pm for support
• Utilizes BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• 13-week assignment on 7P-7A night shift
• Rotating weekend and holiday schedule with every 3rd weekend rotation
• Floating required to the Telemetry Unit as needed, with priority given to bonus shift staff
• Provide direct bedside nursing care including hourly rounding and bedside shift report
• Participate in daily leadership rounding as part of unit patient experience standards
