American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit in Charleston, WV, on the night shift. Strong IMC/ICU and ventilator management experience required.

Work in a Level 1 Trauma Center teaching hospital with 8 IMC beds and 10 observation beds, caring for respiratory, renal, post-op transplant and telemetry patients. Night schedule is three 12-hour shifts, with floating as needed.

Qualifications

• RN license valid in WV or Compact; pending license accepted but must be active by start date
• Minimum 2 years RN experience; 1 year in IMC/ICU
• Strong IMC/ICU experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and ventilator management
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial/central lines, tracheostomy care and cardiac monitoring
• Experience with cardiac/vasoactive drips; titration preferred
• Two manager/charge nurse references in past 2 years
• Flu vaccine required during flu season; COVID not required

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the 3S IMC Unit of a Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Care for 8 IMC beds and 10 observation beds
• Care for respiratory, DKA, arrhythmia, post-op kidney transplant, neuro/renal patients
• Telemetry patients with medical, surgical, renal needs
• Night shifts: three 12-hour shifts, 7pm–7am, weekdays with every other weekend
• Floating within scope as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Use Cerner charting system
• Open to block schedule requests during interview
• Provide intermediate care nursing for medical, surgical, renal patients
• Part of COTH teaching hospital environment

• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption is documented
• COVID vaccine not required

Responsibilities

• Work in the 3S Intermediate Care Unit of a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Unit has 8 IMC beds and 10 separately staffed observation beds
• Patient population includes respiratory issues, DKA, arrhythmias, post-op kidney transplant, interventional neurological, and renal patients
• Cares for telemetry patients with medical, surgical, and renal needs
• Patient ratios are 3:1 for IMCU and 4:1 for M/S
• Night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts, 7pm-7am, weekdays with every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirement
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Open to block schedule requests, to be discussed during interview
• Provide intermediate care nursing to a variety of medical, surgical, and renal patients
• Teaching hospital environment as part of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
• Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue/White or a combination of the two
• Orientation held every other Thursday
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No RTO restrictions, but requests should be discussed during the interview
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered case-by-case
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this position
