Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Surgical CVICU RN for a travel assignment in Morgantown, WV. Position involves direct post‑operative open-heart care, 1:2 patient ratio by acuity, and night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) including some weekends.

Requirements include WV license, 2+ years RN experience, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, ACT monitoring, and open-heart care expertise. Housing allowance and shift flexibility noted.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with Activated Clotting Time (ACT) monitoring required
• Experience with direct open-heart admissions from the OR, cardiac surgery care, Swan-Ganz management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT required
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure

Responsibilities

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM) including weekdays and weekends
• Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity, with potential step-down overflow patients
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Unit involves direct fresh open-heart admissions from the OR
• Provide post-cardiac surgery care for patients admitted directly from the OR
• Perform cardiac monitoring and respond to cardiac emergencies
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, though candidates within 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System are not eligible for this travel contract
• Non-billable orientation modules required prior to start date, averaging 8 hours to complete
• Orientation is held every other Monday
• Blocked schedule requests will be considered
• Scrubs are not provided
