American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care unit with ventilator experience. Candidates must hold a VA or Compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, EPIC EMR familiarity, and at least 2 years of RN experience.

Qualifications

• Cardiac telemetry experience within the past year required.

Responsibilities

• Care for intermediate care unit patients with surgical/trauma and pulmonary needs.
• Manage adults to geriatrics with acute/chronic pulmonary conditions requiring advanced airway support (ventilators, tracheostomies, high flow, BiPAP).
• Care for cardiac patients including CHF, MI, unstable angina, and post-catheterization care.
• Unit operates 22 beds with a 1:4 nurse-patient ratio.
• Night shift 3x12-hour shifts 19:00–07:00; 6 weekends per 6 weeks.
• On-call in selected areas; travel within 30 miles/30 minutes.
• Floating per facility policy; uses EPIC EMR.
• Provide advanced respiratory and cardiac monitoring in a high-acuity unit.
• Navy blue scrubs and flu vaccine required; COVID vaccine or exemption per policy.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care unit position requiring ventilator experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Cardiac telemetry experience within the past year required
• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work setting experience required
• Ventilator and comprehensive respiratory care experience required, including High Flow, Tracheostomy, and BiPAP
• Experience managing dysrhythmias, central/peripheral/PICC line care, and cardiac drip management required
• Familiarity with Rapid Response Teams and Heparin protocols required
• EPIC EMR experience required, with class length based on recent EPIC experience
• Willingness to serve in charge RN role required

Responsibilities

• Intermediate Care unit focused on surgical/trauma and pulmonary patients
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions requiring advanced airway management such as ventilators, tracheostomies, high flow O2, or BiPAP
• Also cares for cardiac patients including CHF, MI, unstable angina, pericardial disease, dysrhythmias, and pre/post cardiac catheterization patients
• Unit includes med/surg overflow with 22 beds and a 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
• On-call responsibilities apply only to certain areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab, requiring candidates to be within 30 miles or 30 minutes of the facility
• Floating required in rotation with client staff per facility policy
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Provide advanced respiratory and cardiac monitoring care within a busy intermediate care unit
• Participate in management of ventilated, tracheostomy, and high-acuity cardiac patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1-Mar 31), with exemptions subject to facility and CMS guidelines
• COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption required
• Smoke and nicotine-free facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous VHC staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests should be minimal and submitted upfront, as post-offer RTO changes are not approved
• Holiday coverage expected per facility scheduling needs
