Job summary
American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for Telemetry in Tyler, TX, night shift 3x12s with 36 hours per week. Requires TX or compact RN license and at least 2 years of telemetry experience.
The assignment spans 13 weeks with one opening, with Epic charting used and a 1:6 nurse-patient ratio on a 36-bed Telemetry unit. Travel experience preferred and BLS is required.
Qualifications
- Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience preferred.
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
- Epic charting experience preferred.
- Trauma Level I experience preferred.
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral/PICC line care.
- Experience with blood product administration and heparin protocols.
- Skilled in cardiac drip management (no titration) and PCA.
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and remote telemetry monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Care for telemetry patients on a 36-bed unit with a 1:6 patient ratio.
- Provide night-shift nursing care on a 3x12 schedule (19:00–07:00).
- Perform Epic charting and coordinate with hospital teams.
- Assist in handling post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization care.

- Night shift, 3x12 schedule from 19:00 to 07:00
- Float required to units of equal acuity
- Uses Epic for charting
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration

- Experience caring for CVA, spinal cord injury, and cardiac surgery patients preferred
- Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including use of rapid response/code teams
- Manage feeding tubes and surgical drains as needed
- Care for post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization patients
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
- Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
