American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position in Kalamazoo, MI. The role requires an MI RN license and at least 1 year of telemetry experience, with Cerner charting proficiency.

Shifts are Day 3x12 hours (0700-1930), 36 hrs/week, for 13 weeks. No on-call; every other weekend and 2 of 3 holidays required. ACLS/BLS NIHSS preferred.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS preferred.
• Cerner charting experience required.
• Comfortable in high patient ratio environments (1:5-7).
• Experience with cardiac drips management preferred.
• Post-MI/post-cath care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in the Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit (3N) in a 54-bed cardiac unit.
• Monitor patients with telemetry and administer cardiac drips.
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5–7 and coordinate with on-call teams.
• Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a MI RN license, 1 year of experience, and Cerner charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit (3N), a 54-bed cardiac unit serving as the facility's main Cardiac Telemetry unit
• Patient population includes heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI heart attacks, stroke requiring cardiac monitoring, cardiac arrhythmias, and chest pain, with possible overflow medical patients
• Patients are monitored via remote telemetry as well as closely on the unit, and cardiac drips are administered
• Typical patient ratios range from 1:5-6, with potential increases to 1:7 during call-ins
• Shift is Day, 3x12 hours (0700-1930)
• No on-call requirements
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals depending on volume/census

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Cerner charting experience required
• Must be comfortable working in high patient ratio environments (1:5-7)
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with cardiac drip management (titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred)
• Experience with post cardiac catheterization, post MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery care preferred
• Sheath removal and TR Band skills preferred
• Experience with pacemaker management (temporary/permanent) preferred
• TAVR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Maximum RTO is 10 days; if RTO falls during the holidays, must be willing to work at least 1 of the 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility, and local candidates will not be accepted
• Previous employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 3 years before returning as a traveler
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, though management will make efforts to accommodate requests
• Additional preferred skills include respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation), wound care, IV therapy, and substance withdrawal management
