American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Inpatient Rehab/Ortho unit in Texas. Candidates must hold a TX or Compact RN license and have 2+ years of RN experience, with night shifts (7p-7a) and weekend coverage as needed.

Responsibilities include direct nursing care for ortho, rehab, and select med-surg patients, with telemetry, Paragon EMR usage, and unit-specific staffing. Travel-friendly benefits and housing allowances are offered.

Qualifications

• Active TX or Compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required.
• Ortho experience preferred with telemetry, IV insertion, foley, dressing changes.
• Basic rhythm course required for telemetry strip review.
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration.
• Two professional references: one supervisor from last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from last 3 years, with dates and rehire eligibility.

Responsabilités

• Inpatient Rehab/Ortho unit (Calder 1) in an acute care hospital setting with telemetry capability.
• 9 beds on Ortho and 13 beds on Inpatient Rehab, with overflow to medical-surgical patients as needed.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on Med-Surg and 1:6 on Inpatient Rehab, adjusted by acuity.
• Common diagnoses include total knee/hip/shoulder replacements, CVAs, encephalopathy, and lumbar fusions.
• Uses Paragon EMR.
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, every other weekend required.
• PCTs support ADL care and vital signs on nights; charge nurse present each shift and carries a patient assignment.
• Telemetry patients monitored off-site by monitor techs; RNs review strips once per shift.
• Floating required to other Med-Surg units with similar staffing ratios.
• No standby or on-call requirement; low census staff may be reassigned within the hospital.
• Holidays rotated among staff.
• Provide direct nursing care to orthopedic, rehab, and select medical-surgical patients.
• Participate in a three-day classroom orientation followed by two precepted shifts on the unit.
• Navy blue scrubs required; scrubs not provided by the facility.
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable.
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position.
